Situated on the eastern edge of Cape Town’s False Bay, nestled between Macassar and Gordons Bay, Strand is a seaside paradise that offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and endless stretches of pristine sandy beach. With tourism one of the area’s main industries, holiday property investment opportunities abound, with a range of developments having sprung up in recent years. Many of the apartments and flats for sale are situated on or just back from the beachfront, taking full advantage of the exquisite views.

One of Strand’s main selling points is the fact that it is so ideally situated, just 20 minutes from Cape Town’s International Airport and 45 minutes from the Mother City Centre. Who wouldn’t want to own a home in a coastal paradise that allows you to commute to and from work in the city with ease? The considerable growth that the area has experienced in recent years has ensured that the infrastructure has grown to match, with a number of shopping centres, sporting facilities, top medical facilities and other important services all within a short drive. Golf fanatics can take advantage of two excellent courses in the area.

When it comes to Strand’s history, it is believed that the Malay slaves settled here as early as the 1800s and brought with them a rich culture and tradition. Being mostly Muslim, a mosque was established in the area and it can still be seen today. During apartheid, the neighbourhood was destroyed and the people forcefully resettled to make way for a seaside resort. Today, the properties for sale in Strand are primarily available in high-rise apartment blocks that extend all along the coastline. There is still vacant land available and this continues to be developed into residential or holiday apartments and flats. |
